About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Director of Experiential Learning & Career Service this individual leads a student-facing team of co-op and career advisors and works closely with operations staff responsible for ensuring career readiness, co-op opportunities, and experiential pathways for graduate and undergraduate CPS learners. They provide daily operational management and oversight, participate in planning, implementing, executing, evaluating career and experiential learning services and support to grow and scale experiential learning engagement, with specific focus on diverse learners and a large international student population. They work with faculty, academic partners, employers, and other constituents to grow and nurture relationships between all stakeholders to establish CPS co-op/experiential pathways as an equal driver of enrollment, persitance, retention, and graduation, alongside importance of NU's academic and faculty brand. They also work with leadership to identify and meet growth goals and implement strategies while ensuring highly satisfactory levels of support and services for students. They are responsible for continuous improvement of career and experiential pathways leading to improved YoY student satisfaction and co-op participation growth. They are also responsible for ideating and adopting new strategies and reimagining existing strategies to better align CPS experiential pathways with programmatic outcomes & student career aspiration to ensure persistence and retention while increasing co-op participation. They leverage internal and external resources to scale and sustain programs, publicize initiatives, safeguard and serve the unique experiential needs of CPS learner populations, and establish CPS experiential learning as a widely recognized differentiator for the college, on par with the rest of the university.

30% Leadership, Strategy, and Program Growth

Provide strategic direction and proactively work to advance impactful and engaging experiential learning initiatives by collaborating with faculty, staff and academic programs. Focus on expanding the types of experiential learning models offered to our diverse learner population: drive co-op participation toward 100% of eligible learners, drive participation in other experiential programs (XN) to 100% participation in all CPS academic programs, work to increase employer partnerships with other college stakeholder. With a focus on equity, scale, and growth, ensure that all CPS students across the Global Network are supported in meaningful ways and are set up for career success. Act as a point of contact for our Global Network campus partners.

Focus on increased engagement and streamline processes within our office and other university supports (Alumni, Career Design office, OGS) to producing career ready students with the goal of ensuring expectations meet reality and increase experiential learning participation to all eligible learners.

30% Advising Team Management

Provide daily management of staff and support services for co-op/internship opportunities supporting institutional & organizational goals and objectives. Lead the selection and onboarding process for staff and manage all aspects of performance management. Actively participate in selection and onboarding process for Career & Co-op staff across the Global Network. Plan, organize, assign and delegate activities and measure results to achieve organization's expectations. Provide feedback, recognition and coaching to ensure high performance, growth and professional development. Manage expectations and address unsatisfactory performance as needed. Assist employees in navigating business processes and resolving issues (managing escalations as needed). Administer and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures. Provide expertise, guidance and oversight for the review and processing of (F1) international student documents for co-op and advising according to federal regulations and established guidelines for the college and Northeastern University, ensure advising team is documenting and reporting on all substantive engagement and advising activities using required practices and technology platforms (Salesforce, NUWorks, Handshake).

25% Career Advising

Provide comprehensive career coaching using one-to-one and one-to-many student support modalities to scale support and instill a knowledgeable and professional foundation for learners embarking on experiential learning assignments. Regularly schedule webinars, workshops, and other events for students and employer partners. Work closely with Faculty, Academic Advising, First Year Navigator, Office of Global Students (OGS), and Career Services (EECD) to ensure a smooth transition from classroom to work throughout the student journey. Regularly check and take responsibility for all unit processes, public information (websites, etc.), data collection, reporting, and communication to ensure clear, coherent, optimized, and streamlined narrative & approach or co-op engagement and participation.

15% Analysis and Monitoring

Responsible for leading data collection and reporting for all co-op and experiential pathways. Monitor and report program outcomes and deliverables. Establish approach for leveraging existing institutional resources and programs to help achieve planned outcomes for co-op. Identify and execute new approaches, modality, tools and resources, as needed. Promote and support innovative approaches to measure and evaluate experiential learning, assist in the development and implementation of appropriate assessment tools, and work with the Executive Director and other leadership to project and plan resources and budgets.

Qualifications:

Master's Degree in higher education leadership, management, administration or related field preferred. Minimum of 4-6 years of experience with increasing leadership responsibilities in career services, co-operative, higher education administration, experiential learning, and/or employer relations in higher education or similar, required. Strong knowledge of requirements and best practices for supporting domestic and international, first-gen undergraduate, graduate, and adult learners in co-op/internship domain required. Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, strong change management skills, and ability to understand evolving higher education systems and processes. Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, entrepreneurial skills, conflict resolution skills, and ability to coordinate and manage diverse groups, required. Knowledge of experiential technology platforms, educational technology platforms, online learning, instructional design and academic assessment, project management skills, and required. Knowledge and understanding of trends in higher education, such as focused on experiential learning, co-operative education, and dealing with diverse student populations, required. Demonstrated values of excellence, respect, integrity, stewardship, community and personal development. Teaching and staff development/training experience a plus.
