Position Title
Grants and Financial Analyst

Overview

Assist with grant-related tasks, allowing for improvements and automation in the procedures and clearer and more frequent communication with the principal investigators.

Essential Duties:
  1. Verify all grant direct costs are allowable, properly allocated, reasonable, and consistent based on the funding agreement. Review all requisitions for grants, verify accuracy, authorization, and appropriateness of the G/L accounts assigned in line with approved budgets. Ascertain vendors are allowable for all federal grant purchases through the SAM system (System for Award Management). Create and maintain electronic files of all back-up documentation.
  2. Assist with training Principal Investigators (PIs), fielding questions as they arise, and maintain regular communications with the researchers and their teams. Participate in the origination meetings at the time of award and coordinate regular meetings with each investigator to review expenditures for compliance with guidelines and budgets throughout the grant award period.
  3. Prepare monthly/quarterly/annual reports for PIs and outside granting agencies and auditors. Assist with reconciling grants receivable and payable accounts monthly and record grant revenues. Assist with conducting physical inventory of federally procured capital expenditures, as required by law, and with gathering and preparing all audit requests.
  4. Assist in collaborating with SPARC, Director of Foundation Relations, PIs, department administrators, and other from across the College to proactively improve processes related to post-award administration of grants. Assist with the implementation of the grants module in Banner.
  5. Support Financial Services by ensuring the appropriateness of College spending. Review and approve purchase requisitions for accuracy and ascertain whether budget dollars are available. Process all budget transfers, ensuring funds being requested are available and codes are correct.
  6. Assist in the preparation of the monthly capital report. Update capital building projects and equipment schedules, ensure that all project balances reconcile to the general ledger, and research vouchers as required to ensure that expenses have been booked to the appropriate capital project.

Education and Experience Required
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required, preferably in accounting or related field.
  • Three to five years’ experience in financial services or accounting role. Previous experience in higher education and / or with grants management is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications.
  • Proficiency with Banner preferred.
  • Must be analytical, organized, detailed, and possess the ability to multi-task.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
