Academic Systems Business Analyst

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

The Academic Systems Business Analyst assists academic administration and student services departments in making optimal use of business processes, service delivery processes, and business systems that support student-facing functions of the University. In particular, this role focuses on serving departments in enrollment management (including admissions and financial aid), student registration and records, student success, student business services, and academic administration.

The Business Analyst uses expertise in service delivery, process design, and process documentation/management to assist client departments in discovering, validating, documenting, and communicating business processes and business requirements. The Analyst also works alongside system administrators, developers, and solution architects to facilitate implementation of these needs in existing university information systems, or the development of new tools and systems to meet process needs. The Analyst helps maintain the university’s business process library and works with the Documentation & Training Specialist to address needs for client training and support documentation.

JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Responsible for the review, analysis, evaluation processes, system requirements, end-user needs, and business requirements gathering for systems. Responsible for understanding the business and assisting non-technical users in defining business needs. Documents business requirements, process workflows, and any other results of business analysis gathering and obtains sign-off from primary process owners.
  • Work as part of the Information Technology Services team to deliver high-quality business solutions. Help maintain the business process library. Work with the Documentation & Training Specialist to meet client support needs for documentation and training.
  • Prepares and organizes testing such as functional testing and user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Works to foster across-campus relationships that emphasize collaboration, delivery, and process improvements. Works with all areas of the university including other systems/business analysts and project managers on joint projects as necessary.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills both oral and written.
  • Ability to work independently and/or in a collaborative environment.
  • Demonstrated and proven skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of two years of direct experience in business process design and maintenance or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master’s degree in a relevant field and minimum of 1-year relevant experience in business process design and maintenance.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, AND/OR OTHER SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS OF LAW:
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • This position requires a criminal background check, which may include a Level II screening as required by Florida Statute §435.04.
  • This position is subject to federal and state privacy regulations.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: This position is salary exempt. The normal work schedule is Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., however, occasional overtime (weekends and evenings) may be required. Travel between campus locations may be required.

TARGET HIRING SALARY: $70,000 - $75,000, commensurate with experience.
