Job Description

Montgomery College, Facilities – Central Administration, has an immediate need for a full-time Geographic Information Systems Analyst in the Facilities Department. This is a non-bargaining, exempt, grade 31 position. Montgomery College promotes and creates a working and learning environment rooted in the basic tenets of fairness, diversity, and inclusiveness. This position is eligible for telework up to 2 day(s) per week after successful completion of initial employment probationary period and approval of the Department.

The work schedule is Monday – Friday, 7:30am-4:00pm.

The Geographic Information Systems Analyst will develop and maintain a geospatial database of facilities and infrastructure used to connect data to maps integrating location data with all types of descriptive information that helps the user understand patterns, relationships, and geographic context. They will also conduct research and prepare analyses, studies, and background reports for management decision-making.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Designs and implements a facilities management campus mapping and enterprise GIS system consisting of essential CAD & GIS mapping and applications (data and map service development and administration).
  • Uses desktop GIS to analyze data and create maps for internal purposes, and also participating in the launching and supporting of online and mobile maps for public consumption.
  • Develops standards and manages cross-unit initiatives to standardize controls and access to GIS related resources.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to application users, team members, and affiliated consultant developers.
  • Provide CAD/GIS mapping and application services to support the Montgomery College Department of Public Safety.
  • Use GIS software to analyze data and create maps for internal purposes, and participate in launching and supporting online and mobile maps for public consumption
  • Develop custom functions and routines to automate workflow processes for interacting with other systems related to space management, asset management, building insurance, etc.
  • Generate reports and graphics to support the Capital Improvement Program, the Facilities Master Plan and the Utilities Master Plan using CAD, computer aided facility management (CAFM), and GIS.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university in a discipline that regularly uses GIS (e.g. geography, environmental science, civil engineering, forestry, cartography, etc.).
  • Three years working with GIS platforms, one year geodatabase creation and maintenance, and using AutoCAD.
  • Specialized training in ArcGIS for Server 10.1 or greater, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Java Script, Google Maps, SQL ad hoc queries, Autodesk AutoCAD, CAD, BIM, and GIS Data Integration.
  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience providing an understanding of the field and the ability to perform the essential functions of the job may be considered.
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of data analysis or geographic information systems.
  • Knowledge of methods and procedures of data collection and production related to land use, population, water, environment, transportation, zoning regulations, comprehensive plan support.
  • Proficient in the use of building industry specific technology including web-based GIS platforms and data collection devices.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD.
  • Ability to lead, organize, motivate a diverse team of professional and support staff, and also negotiate resolutions that require balancing needs of competing interests.
  • Ability to manage cloud-computing resources, use routine IT equipment and software including Microsoft Office Suite products.
  • Eligible applicants must currently be authorized to work in the United States and not require employer visa sponsorship.
Licenses & Certifications
  • Valid driver 's license is required and evidence of a good driving record.
Hiring Range: $76,679 to $99,671 annually. Initial salary placement is based on candidate experience and internal equity.
