Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE:

The Coordinator III, Advising and Grant Compliance provides oversight and facilitation of day-to-day and some long-term operations within a large and/or System-wide area of specialty, playing a strong role in leading and planning, development, evaluation and improvement. Assigned area and responsibilities will be extensive and/or highly specialized. May be responsible for the success of assigned area, ensuring smooth and efficient operations as well as compliance with policies, procedures and a variety of local, state and federal regulations. Coordinates logistics, services and support surrounding significant/diverse programs or departments. Makes and communicates process decisions based on best practices.

This is a temporary, grant-funded position. Continuation of the position from one academic year to the next is dependent upon continued grant funding.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  1. Oversees daily and some long-term operations of program, including personnel. Actively maintains up-to-date knowledge of area and acts as a Subject Matter Expert within area and as a point of contact and liaison for internal and external constituents
  2. Performs research relevant to area of specialty. Develops, monitors and maintains a variety of spreadsheets, databases, reports, and presents findings to internal/external constituents (may include LSCS Managers/Executives, community members, and/or outside groups and organizations)
  3. Enters, tracks and maintains a variety of data, including documents, spreadsheets and databases
  4. May be responsible for ensuring and maintaining compliance with local/state/federal compliance of processes and documentation within assigned area
  5. Plans, coordinates and hosts campus events for faculty, staff and students to promote job attainment
  6. Serves as coordinator and point-of-contact for students, administrators and LSC campus community regarding career-related functions that are associated with grant program
  7. Hosts faculty and staff training sessions regarding successful career-related practices
  8. Coordinates and implements outreach and career-related efforts for LSC community; recruit faculty, staff and students to join and participate in program
  9. Regularly assesses and analyzes student needs, interests and events for developing programs, objectives, and plans for reports and evaluation
  10. Meets with students to track academic progress and success; serves as academic advisor to a cohort of LSC students as needed
  11. Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

PHYSICAL ABILITIES:

The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee sits comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking; standing; bending; carrying of light items, such as papers, books, or small parts; or driving an automobile. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.

WORK SCHEDULE & CONDITIONS:
  • Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment
  • Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
  • Work is performed in a climate-controlled office with minimal exposure to safety hazards
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's Degree and at least 1 year of related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Specialization in coordinator position area
  • Accounting or Grant compliance
Salary

Hiring salary range is $48,152-$55,375

Lone Star College provides a hiring salary range for all posted full-time non-faculty positions. Where your salary offer would fall in that range is determined by your related experience and education.
