Temporary, Part-time English Instructors (unsolicited)

Job Summary/Basic Function

The Department of English at Millersville University is seeking part-time instructors to teach such courses as composition at all levels, literature at the survey (200) level, film studies, and English Education. One or two courses per semester possible, with potential for summer teaching as needed.
Teaching will be done in both traditional and online learning environments.

The Department of English, in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, is comprised of 23 faculty members, a support staff and some 800 students. The department offers degrees in English at the undergraduate and graduate level.

In addition to teaching, there is an expectation for scholarship and service commensurate with the assignment.

Required Qualifications

•Master’s Degree in Rhetoric/Composition, English, Film or relevant field.
•Prior experience teaching course content or related content.
•Evidence of ability to successfully teach diverse student populations.
•Successful interview and teaching demonstration.
•Three successful background checks: Act 34 (Criminal Record Check); Act 114 ( FBI Federal Criminal History-Fingerprinting); and Act 151 (Child Abuse History Clearance).

Preferred Qualifications

PhD in English or relevant field. Successful teaching experience. Evidence of teaching in online learning environments.
