We invite applications for a Research Associate/Postdoctoral scholar position for a collaborative project jointly executed at the University of Qatar, Doha, and Tottori University, Japan. The project aims to prospect the medicinal and therapeutic potential of Qatari plants for complementary alternative medicine, particularly cancer (e.g., breast cancer). The scholar will work independently and collaboratively to perform a non-target screening of crude plant extracts using chromatography and mass spectrometry methods; structurally elucidate novel bioactive compounds using NMR. Additional duties will include but are not limited to mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, assisting with grant development, performing routine lab duties, and other project-related tasks as may be assigned by the LPI.

Minimum Requirements

Ph.D/M.Sc. with specialization in Plant Metabolomics, Phytochemistry/Natural Products Chemistry, Ethno-Botany, Analytical Chemistry, or other relevant areas. Candidates must have completed all degree requirements except the dissertation or be enrolled in an accredited Ph.D. or equivalent international degree.

Preferred Qualifications

 Demonstrate general expertise in the field of natural products isolation and characterization  Practical skills and experience with chromatographic analytical platforms for analysis of plant metabolites (e.g., GC-MS and LC-MS)  Experience with target/non-target metabolomics; and strong NMR and mass spectrometry skills in compound characterization  Familiarity with metabolomics databases and networking platforms  Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team  Being able to multi-task with multiple projects and keep pace in a dynamic research environment  Record of research publications and research presentations
