Job Description:

The University of Florida Herbarium (in the Florida Museum of Natural History) has a Federal Work Study position available to work on the digitization of our bryophyte and lichen collections. The duties include preparing bryophyte (moss, liverwort, hornwort) and lichen specimens by carefully gluing on cards, barcoding, handling of delicate dried specimens, specimen imaging, and cataloging the specimens in database portals. Tasks require meticulous care and attention to detail. Familiarity with plant taxonomy is useful.

The hours are flexible, between 8am-5pm Mon-Fri, excluding holidays, but a regular schedule of 6-12 hours per week is desirable.

Expected Salary:

$12/hour

Minimum Requirements:

YOU MUST BE A UNIVERSITY OF FLORIDA STUDENT.

Your financial aid allocation must have funds in the "FWSP" program column.

Preferred Qualifications:

Meticulous attention to detail, typographical accuracy, ability to read cursive writing, careful handling of dried specimens, and a knowledge of geography is crucial for this work.
