The School of Architecture Academic Operations Manager is responsible for the long-term and day-to-day administration, operations, and programming support for the Associate Dean’s Office.
This position works in close collaboration with the Associate Dean and is responsible for multiple aspects of academic operational services, including providing administrative support to the Associate Dean. Manage and implement complex projects maintaining a detailed understanding of best practices in project management including accreditation team visits, academic strategic plan semiannual reporting, and University-wide academic initiatives. Administer and execute various School of Architecture academic programs including Visiting Critic Studios, enrollment for off-campus programming, faculty mentoring programs, and academic integrity violations. Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Three (3) plus years of experience in operations or administrative management is required.
  • Experience in academic administration and direct interaction with faculty and students is preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are required.

  • Fluent in Microsoft Office suite programs.

  • Maintain a high level of attention to detail and student confidentiality.
  • Exceptional organizational skills are required. Must be able to work independently, use initiative, and make substantive decisions quickly.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects with variable deadlines that change over time.
  • Ability to work with internal and external partners to support the various needs of academic programming with particular attention to faculty and students.
  • Familiarity with academic advising and curricular matters.
  • Experience creating, reporting, and monitoring budgets.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills are required; i.e., the ability to communicate effectively verbally and through written correspondence as well as in communicating with individuals in one-on-one situations.
Responsibilities
  • Manage long-term and day-to-day administration, operations, and programming support for the Associate Dean’s Office.
  • Provide administrative support for the Associate Dean of the School of Architecture: scheduling meetings, Associate Dean’s calendar, travel and expenses, and meeting logistics. Prepare various meeting agendas, including both faculty and staff meetings, and various other Associate Dean sponsored events.
  • Manage all processes related to off-campus programs in NYC, Florence, London, and summer locations including student communications and application processes.
  • Maintain databases to project and appropriately disperse enrollment and waitlists.
  • Organize and attend meetings to share information and promote off-campus programs to faculty, administration, and students.
  • Coordinate with Syracuse Abroad and New York City program staff to maintain successful programming in all off-campus program locations.
  • Administer Visiting Critic Studio. Direct and oversee enrollment processes, including administer balloting process and student placement selection.
  • Serve as primary administrative support for 3-6 Visiting Critics each semester, facilitate interim reviews, final reviews, and national and international field trips.
  • Develop and maintain Visiting Critics expenses and individual studio budgets.
  • Manage and implement complex academic administrative projects including accreditation team visits, academic strategic plan semiannual reporting, University-wide academic initiatives, faculty course evaluations.
