Primary Duties and
Responsibilities:


The Thomas F. Frist, Jr. College of Medicine (FCoM) is seeking a Chair to lead the Department of Integrated Clinical Education. The Chair will report to the Dean and work closely with the leadership team to develop the strategic and tactical plans for implementation and oversight of the FCoM clinical education program to ensure that the learning environment and faculty meet the objectives and expectations for clinical education within the medical school curriculum.

Job Responsibilities:
Work with FCoM leadership to uphold the vision and mission of FCoM and Belmont University.
Collaborate with FCoM leadership to sustain a culture of innovation and commitment to learning excellence.
Mentor and advise faculty for individual professional development and advancement.
Provide performance feedback to faculty, with establishment of short-term and long-term goals.
Recruit and work with clerkship directors to develop experiential training in clinical medicine.
Partner with the Office of Faculty and Academic Affairs to manage the design of the clinical education curriculum, implement best practices in community-based medical education, and oversee its delivery to ensure continuous quality improvement and compliance with accreditation requirements across the clinical sites.
Collaborate with faculty to develop instructional and experiential training in clinical medicine for all phases of the four-year curriculum, including early immersion in the clinical environment.
Contribute to and support faculty in scholarship focused on medical education, health services, and other areas of research.
Promote a diverse and inclusive culture of academic excellence and a positive working and learning environment.
Advocate for faculty and ensure committee appointments to establish a culture of respectful self-governance, inclusive of all faculty within FCoM.
Lead departmental efforts in the assessment, study, and research of medical education in the clinical setting for FCoM to become recognized as a national leader in inter-professional, data-driven, and community-engaged medical education.

Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine degree with experience at a LCME-accredited medical school
Board certification from the American Board of Medical Specialties.
Evidence of robust administrative experience.
Demonstrated ability to manage faculty issues and concerns.
Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
Experience with medical student clinical training (i.e., development of clinical curriculum, directorship of clinical clerkship).
Experience with accreditation processes and standards for medical education.
Evidence of scholarship in foundational, clinical, or educational research.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in inter-professional, inter-disciplinary, and inter-departmental teams.

Required Education Doctor of Medicine graduate of LCME-accredited medical school in the United States. American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) certification in an established field of medicine

Required Experience Evidence of robust administrative experience. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and successfully in matrix organizations. Demonstrated ability to manage faculty issues and concerns. Demonstrated excellence in teaching. Experience with student-centered pedagogies, such as small group interactions, and with the integration of foundational and clinical sciences in teaching. Experience with accreditation processes and standards for medical education. Evidence of scholarship in foundational, clinical, or educational research. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in inter-professional, inter-disciplinary, and inter-departmental teams.
