Essential Job Functions

The Human Biology Department at the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay seeks applicants for a 9-month tenure-track position with primary responsibility to the Master of Athletic Training Program. Candidates will be hired at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful applicant will demonstrate contemporary expertise in one or more of the following professional domains of athletic training: urgent and emergent care, orthopedics, rehabilitation, behavioral health, wellness, and/or performance enhancement. Administrative responsibilities in the roles of program director or clinical education coordinator may be available in the future.

The faculty in Human Biology are engaged in all aspects of student success including students in scholarly activities, advising students, supervising research projects, developing curriculum, interdisciplinary research, serving at all levels of the university, participating in community outreach, and other activities.

This position will be responsible for enhancing UW-Green Bay’s mission-driven inclusive teaching efforts and creating and maintaining an educational environment that acknowledges, encourages, and celebrates those with diverse identities, beliefs, and cultural backgrounds.

What You'll Do

This position includes the following responsibilities:

  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses based on the applicant’s area of expertise in Athletic Training and Human Biology. Courses may include, but are not limited to, the following general areas:
    • Emergency care
    • Foundational concepts in athletic training
    • Evaluation and management of musculoskeletal conditions
    • Health promotion
    • Anatomy and physiology
  • Implement inclusive instructional strategies to increase support for students from underrepresented and first-generation backgrounds at UW-Green Bay.
  • Develop a strong research program involving collaboration with students and/or faculty.
  • Advise and mentor students.
  • Perform scholarly activities consistent with rank.
  • Perform institutional and community service.
  • Contribute to ongoing program development.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Earned doctorate in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, or closely related field, from an accredited institution.  ABD candidates will be considered; however, an earned doctorate in Athletic Training, Sports Medicine, Exercise Science, or closely related field, from an accredited institution is a necessary condition for contract renewal.  ABD candidates will be hired into a terminal appointment at the rank of Instructor with a rate determined at the time of hire. Upon degree conferral during the terminal period, the contracted appointment with the rank of Assistant Professor will be reinstated.
  • Certified Athletic Trainer in good standing with the BOC.
  • Eligible for Athletic Training Licensure in Wisconsin.
  • NPI number with appropriate health care field designation.
  • Previous clinical practice as an athletic trainer.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching.
  • Demonstrated potential for excellence in scholarship.

The Successful Candidate

Conditions of Appointment

Position is an academic year, tenure-track appointment.  Applicants must be considered for tenure and promotion in six years, although tenure decisions may be at any time.  Promotion from Assistant to Associate Professor is simultaneous with tenure.  Excellence in teaching, sustained scholarly activity, and institutional service required for retention and promotion.  Official transcripts of the highest degree achieved will be required of finalist(s).  A criminal conviction investigation will be conducted on the finalist(s).  In compliance with the Wisconsin Fair Employment Act, the university does not discriminate on the basis of arrest or conviction record. 

All final candidates must be asked, prior to hire, whether they have been found to have engaged in, are currently under investigation for, or left employment during an active investigation in which they were accused of sexual violence or sexual harassment.
