Agnes Scott College invites applications for a part-time faculty position to teach clinical practicum courses in its Medical Sciences program and related post-baccalaureate programs. These programs prepare students for medical school and related health professions through a curriculum that includes credit-bearing practicum experiences. The clinical practicum courses are offered in summer and fall 2023. Successful applicants may teach one or more practicum courses.

While enrolled in the clinical practicum course, graduate students complete a volunteer experience or community service projects with metropolitan Atlanta hospitals, clinics and nonprofits. In addition, students will work with their clinical professor at Agnes Scott to supplement the volunteer or community service experience by reflecting on and delving more deeply into topics such as patient-provider communication, implicit bias in medicine, healthcare disparities, quality improvement within the medical system, and ethical medical care. Under the instruction of the clinical professor, students will also gain clinical skills in a classroom setting, including interviewing the patient, shared decision making, an overview of the physical exam.

This part-time position will report to the director of the medical sciences program. Competitive candidates will have a terminal degree in a relevant field, experience teaching a diverse student body, and significant experience in healthcare. Successful candidates will have a minimum of a master’s degree and experience teaching a diverse student body in the health sciences.
