The Central Oregon Community College (COCC) Mathematics Department is seeking a Mathematics instructor committed to:

  • teaching, developing and leading sequences in developmental mathematics,
  • student success for learners from diverse backgrounds,
  • a collaborative and creative approach to mathematics education.

We are dedicated to building a community of practice for excellence in teaching. We support our colleagues in establishing a healthy and balanced work environment. We aim to create a welcoming and inclusive space for all members of our community, including students, COCC employees, and all Central Oregon residents and visitors.

Our dynamic department encourages creative exploration of how to promote student engagement and success, while being focused on solid mathematical pedagogy. We encourage faculty to pursue projects they are passionate to explore if they choose to. Some examples of current work include:

  • researching and promoting inclusive mathematics education practices
  • providing embedded mathematics instruction for Career and Technical Education programs such as Allied Health, Fire Science, Criminal Justice, and Culinary.
  • implementation of project-based small group activities in developmental quantitative reasoning courses.
  • development of Demos-based activities and other active learning strategies in STEM path courses.

Central Oregon Community College, the oldest two-year college in Oregon, provides comprehensive college services to the residents of its 10,000-square-mile district. The COCC Mathematics department provides instruction to students pursuing two-year associate degrees, career and technical education degrees and certificates, and transfer programs. COCC campuses in Bend, Redmond, Madras, and Prineville serve credit and community education students in 6 Central Oregon counties. Central Oregon is widely recognized for its sunshine, outdoor opportunities, expansive public lands, and rich cultural offerings.

We encourage applications from candidates who identify with groups historically underrepresented in higher education.
