Brief Statement of Duties
Brief Statement of Duties:
Primary Responsibilities include teaching public address, small group process, intercultural communication, and communication theory. Ability to teach additional courses in the department (e.g., environmental communication, organizational communication, communication criticism, research methods, and other specialties of the candidate's interest) is desirable. Other responsibilities include departmental and campus service, academic advising, and scholarship and/or professional development. This is a campus-based position.
Minimum Qualifications
Required Education:
Doctorate or equivalent terminal degree
Discipline / Degree Area:
Communication Studies, Speech, Rhetoric, or related field.
Required Specialized Training/Certifications:
Ph.D. required
Required Minimum Work Experience:
Three to five years of prior teaching experience required.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required for Satisfactory Performance of the Position Duties:
Oral and written communication skills.
Time management skills - the ability to manage one's own time and meet departmental, college, and University deadlines.
Active Learning - Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
Critical Thinking - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
Learning Strategies - Selecting and using training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new course content.

Professional work experience, record of scholarship, online teaching experience.
