JOB SUMMARY:

Coordinator of Psychiatric Services. Psychiatrist. Provides patient-focused psychiatric evaluation and treatment at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS). Adheres to psychiatric clinical practice informed by science with multicultural competence. Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

60% - Essential - Direct Services--Clinical. Provides outpatient, psychiatric care for students utilizing both in person and telehealth modalities. Conducts psychiatric diagnostic interviews, develops and implements treatment informed by evidence-based practices. Works collaboratively with other CAPS mental health providers to provide holistic care.

15% - Essential - Direct Services--Crisis intervention, consultation/outreach and supervision. Provides crisis intervention and emergency services. Provides consultation to Medical Services and CAPS staff. Provides guidance to parents, faculty/staff as appropriate.

10% - Essential - Administrative Duties: Documentation and Case Conference. Completes all clinical documentation in the electronic health record in compliance with the documentation time lines. Completes all necessary documentation to assist clients and as required by CAPS. Participates in Case Conference when requested to assist with treatment planning/review.

10% - Essential - Administrative Duties: Program Coordination, Research and Training. Serve as coordinator of Psychiatric Services. Takes leadership of program development, implementation and evaluation. Oversees the integration of telepsychiatry provided by Medical University of South Carolina psychiatrists. Conducts in-service training for CAPS staff and trainees. Completes all Redfern Health Center mandatory training. Submits year-end report.

5% - Essential - Professional Development: Participates in all CAPS and Student Health Services (SHS) staff meetings. Participates in internal CAPS and Student Health Services (SHS) committees as well as committees within Student Affairs and the University. Maintains professional license. At all times, adheres to American Psychiatric Association's Principles of Medical Ethics with Annotations Especially Applicable to Psychiatry. Adheres to Joint Commission accreditation standards and supports maintenance of APA accreditation.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - Board certified psychiatrist licensed to practice medicine in the State of South Carolina. SC controlled substance license; Federal DEA license. Work Exp 3+ years.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Experience in working with university student population.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

90% - Exposure to psychological distress.

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range: ($ 138,119.00- $ 200,000.00)
