NASA Research Scientist

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Research Scientist will support human spaceflight or ground spaceflight-analog clinical immunology studies. The position involves the study support and execution, data analysis, as well as reporting experimental results in the form of scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications. The position also involves coordinating laboratory resources to carry out studies, which include the collection and processing of human biomedical samples for various assays. The position will also support the development of new grant proposals as determined by programmatic need and relevant solicitations from appropriate funding sources.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Responsible for experiment design and implementation
• Responsible for processing of biological samples for immunological studies
• Responsible for performing sample analysis consisting of cell culture, flow cytometry, multiplex analysis, or other analytical techniques as required
• Responsible for data analysis and reporting experimental results in the form of scientific presentations and peer-reviewed publications
• Responsible for maintenance of Immunology Laboratory ISO documentation, various inventories (chemical, and otherwise), and other laboratory support as required

Qualifications :

Bachelor's Degree in Immunology or related field with 3 years experience.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

At least 3 years of relevant work experience IN immunological assays, cell culture and analysis, molecular techniques, and/or flow cytometry techniques. Demonstrated ability to work multiple projects concurrently. Willingness to work off-nominal work hours during surge events.
