Directs the delivery of clinical services within the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Department. Manages a clinical team that provides psychological and mental health services to students, faculty and staff.

  1. Ensures that clients are assigned in a timely manner and that clinical caseloads are appropriately distributed.
  2. Assists in the development, revision, and implementation of clinical services policies and procedures.
  3. Delivers clinical policies and procedures orientation to new clinicians and interprets clinical policies and procedures for staff as needed.
  4. Responsible for the clinical supervision of senior staff, trainees, and front desk support staff.
  5. Provides multiculturally competent individual, couples and group counseling and clinical consultation; coordinating referrals when appropriate.
  6. Provides outreach and consultation services to the campus community; establishes and maintains communication and relationships with community mental health agencies.
  7. Provides crisis intervention services during and after business hours, and performs psychological and LD/ADHD assessments as needed.
  8. Serves in the absences of the CAPS Director.
  9. Performs other job-related duties as required.

Position Description
The Associate Director of Clinical Services (AD) is a member of the Leadership Team and participates in visionary leadership and decision making at CAPS. The AD provides the overall leadership for the delivery of clinical services, day-to-day operations, oversight of the clinical team, and administrative supervision of professional staff. The AD will participate in the development, optimization and implementation of center policies, procedures and functions, and assists the Director in developing priorities and goals for CAPS programs and services. The Associate Director will act as the Director's designee regarding administration, clinical services, crisis response, and consultation when the Director is absent or as needed. The AD is the primary first back up on call to Protocall for after-hours crises.

Administrative responsibilities include : conducting scheduled and random client satisfactions surveys; maintaining quality assurance procedures; assisting the director with data analysis and report writing for all DSA, SFAC, and IACS reports; responding to inquiries from parents, students, faculty/staff, and other stakeholders; responding to records requests, including subpoenas; organizing staff coverage at the center; ensuring that clients are assigned in a timely manner and that clinical caseloads are appropriately distributed; participating in the development, revision, and dissemination of agency policies and procedures as it pertains to clinical services; providing orientation of clinical policies and procedures to new clinicians; providing and/or coordinating clinical consultation with CAPS clinicians and campus constituents; establishing and maintaining communication and relationships with community mental health agencies; coordinating referrals when appropriate; and all other duties as assigned.

Clinical responsibilities: as needed to fill in clinical service gaps, the AD will provide multiculturally competent individual, couples and group counseling; crisis intervention; consultation and outreach; training and supervision.

Minimum Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Counseling or Clinical Psychology. A minimum of three plus years post-licensure. If license is from another state, contract renewal is contingent upon receiving Texas licensure within one year of start date. At least five years post-internship experience in a college/university counseling center with demonstrated increase in counseling center responsibilities/duties. Sensitivity, knowledge and effectiveness in working with a diverse student populations, including traditionally underserved populations – first generation, LGBTQIA+, BIPOC, Latinx, international, veterans.

Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary mental health team, with other health professionals, faculty and staff, and stakeholders.



Desired Qualifications
Previous administrative experience, strong leadership and organizational management skills, strong attention to details; current knowledge of national best practices around clinical service delivery; and experience being part of an APA-accredited internship program. Ability to manage complex crises and/or clinical situations and to provide related supervision, training, and consultation to a large multidisciplinary staff as needed. Experience working in a multidisciplinary setting. Familiarity with short term models of treatment, specifically, Stepped Care.

Qualifications :

Doctoral and 5 years experience
