Experiential Learning and Career Success (ELCS) invites applications for a Marketing and Communications Manager to join their team. Under the direction of the Associate Director of Experiential Learning, this creative and collaborative position is responsible for all the marketing, social media, and outreach materials needed to support the ELCS team. Responsibilities include: creating and marketing content about ELCS to our varied audiences; managing our websites and social media presence; crafting educational materials to better support our users about how to use our services; assisting ELCS leadership in developing and carrying out a strategic communications plan and calendar; collecting and disseminating information for the ELCS newsletter; providing excellent internal and external customer service to maintain a team-oriented attitude; overseeing front office/reception responsibilities as the first touchpoint most people will have with ELCS, and supervising student workers to help support front desk responsibilities.
  • Assist in developing and carrying out a strategic communications plan and calendar, in consultation with ELCS leadership
  • Develop, maintain, and create new content for the ELCS and associated websites in consultation with appropriate ELCS content area experts, ensuring compliance with ADA and other accessibility standards
  • Act as a liaison between ELCS and UM Marketing & Communications department as needed for updated university graphics, branding, and project assistance
  • Facilitate the production of a regular ELCS departmental newsletter
  • Manage ELCS social media presence and create marketing campaigns to support all ELCS events and initiatives
  • Create ads, flyers, brochures, banners, signs, PowerPoint presentations and other digital media to support all ELCS events and initiatives
  • Manage presentation request form and forward requests to appropriate personnel
  • Create and coordinate marketing and communication budget, in consultation with Administrative and Finance Manager
  • Work with various print vendors both off and on campus in alignment with UM branding standards
  • Manage the production of short informational videos and webinars showcasing student experiences
  • Support the creation and design of training materials for various user groups
  • Provide general event and photography support for events
  • Design, create, update forms, lists, and reports as needed/requested by staff, faculty, and administration
  • Select, train, supervise, and evaluate student employees who support ELCS with reception, appointment coordination, and marketing
  • Monitor the main ELCS phone line and email account and respond to voicemails and/or emails as needed when the front desk is not staffed
Required Skills:
  • Experience with graphic design software and web design.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to new technology.
  • Experience with communication and outreach strategies.
  • Strong organizational and planning skills.
Minimum Required Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a liberal art or business-related field and at least two (2) years of data platform, social media, and/or web design experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Office management or reception experience.
  • Experience supervising others.

Position Details:

Position Title: Marketing and Communications Manager (Media Information Specialist)

Department: Experiential Learning and Career Success

Work Schedule: Full-time, 1.0 FTE (40 Hours a week), Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, 12 months/year.

Salary: $18.776/hr.

Union Affiliation: FOCUS-MFPE

Probationary Period: Six months minimum
