Job Description:
The Counseling Center is seeking two candidates to fill full-time, 9 month positions that include a comprehensive benefits package. These positions are clinical (therapy) positions in which candidates will provide culturally sensitive services to enrolled students. Job responsibilities include:
  • All faculty members are expected to engage in scholarly or creative activity or research, in continuing preparation and study, in contributing to student growth and development, and in providing service to the university and community (See Article 22 and Appendix G of the IFO Master Agreement).



  • Provide short-term individual and group counseling to University students.

  • Crisis intervention and triage.

  • Develop and present outreach and educational programming.

  • Provide clinical supervision to graduate trainees.



Required Qualifications:
  • Master’s degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, counseling, or closely related field by September 1, 2023.



  • Must be licensed (or eligible for licensure) to independently provide mental health services in the state of Minnesota.

  • Background check required.

  • Demonstrated ability to serve a diverse population and apply an equity lens to this position including social justice and/or anti-racism.

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.



  • Demonstrated effective written, oral communication and/or presentation skills.

  • Doctoral degree in clinical psychology or counseling psychology or closely related field from an APA accredited program or equivalent thereof completed by September 1, 2023.

  • Training or experience providing mental health services in a university or college counseling center.

  • Interest or experience providing clinical supervision to graduate trainees.

  • Interest or experience facilitating therapy groups with college students.



Other Requirements:
Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:The Counseling Center at Minnesota State University, Mankato is accredited by the International Accreditation of Counseling Services (IACS) and is staffed with six (6) psychologists. The Center is a training site for practicum students from various disciplines including clinical and counseling psychology, mental health counseling, and social work. Ideal candidates are committed to providing high quality clinical and culturally-responsive services.
