Technical Assistant Lighting Technician

Salary Basis: 12 month
Responsibilities:
-Support the direction of the BPAC Technical Director
-Run lightboard at rehearsals and performances (“events") as needed
-Facilitate hanging light plots and installing lights
-Assist with the lighting plot & install lighting plots for events
-Patching of lighting design
-Maintain the Delta & Pine Land Theatre and the McPherson Recital Hall performing spaces
-Research, maintain and repair equipment as needed
-Keep an accurate inventory of all equipment
-Inform supervisor of needed equipment and expendable goods
-Maintain a safe working environment, following standard theatrical practices
-Regularly inspect and report maintenance issues to supervisor
-In cooperation with BPAC Technical Director, assist in training and supervising part-time technical crew of bi-weekly and student workers
-In preparation for events, provide setup support of staging elements, including chairs, stands, platforms, risers, audio and lighting equipment, and musical instruments
-Participates in load-in, setup, operation, and load-out of equipment.
-Assist with tech and set-up needs for all BPAC programs and rental events
-Assist other BPAC staff as needed
-Willingness to offer front-of-house support and assistance as needed
-Learn to operate BPAC ticketing system
-Uphold BPAC and DSU mission through work performed
-Willing to work evenings, overtime, and weekends. Present as needed for all Main Stage performances, school-time matinees, and other events held within the BPAC
-Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, work at heights, safely handle rigging needs, and ability to stay on feet for extended periods of time
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in performing arts industry or related field (OR) experience working as a technical theater professional.Knowledge of ETC systems is a plus.
Salary:
12 monthCommensurate with experience, qualifications, and university’s resources.
