Drew University is seeking a full-time, 10-month Coordinator, Prevention and Wellness Education in the Department of Counseling and Psychological Services . This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a unique skill-set including strong clinical skills as well as outreach experience. The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of Counseling and Psychological Services. The outreach aspect of the position is responsible for co-chairing the campus Well-being Committee, coordinating campus outreach efforts, and providing vision and leadership for mental health education and substance use prevention and harm reduction. The clinical aspect of the position provides substance use evaluations and counseling, as well as mental health counseling as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

• Clinical Responsibilities:
  • Provide evaluation, intervention, counseling, and referral services for students who display high-risk behaviors associated with substance use.
  • Engage in short-term individual and group counseling for students with substance use (and related) concerns.
  • Skilled in crisis consultations during business hours.
  • Work with the Office of Student Conduct and Community Standards, Residence Life, Athletics, and others as appropriate to support students on campus.
  • Compliance with appropriate note-taking and supervision needs related to client caseload.
• Outreach/Education Responsibilities:
  • Deliver outreach and education around topics such as harm reduction, Up-Stander training, consent, and mental health intervention strategies.
  • Manage existing grant award focused on harm-reduction.
  • Cofacilitate peer to peer education training.
  • Evaluate outreach effectiveness.
  • Provide ongoing administration of and leadership of a campus community group dedicated to promote wellness.

Required Education and Experience:

• Master's in Psychology, Counseling or Social Work, required with appropriate license (or license eligible) with specialization in the assessment and treatment of Alcohol and Other Drug use (LCADC).
• Minimum of three years' experience working with young adult/college-age population.
• Ability to protect confidentiality and meet all ethical standards associated with the practice of psychology within a university counseling center context.
• Strong case formulation, assessment and treatment skills, including the ability to understand working clinically with a diversity of clients, issues, and levels of impairment.
• Outstanding oral and written communication skills, able to dialogue effectively with a wide range of students, faculty, and staff.
• Ability to collaborate collegially with a multidisciplinary staff, both within CAPS and throughout the University community.
• Knowledge of developmental trends and concerns of undergraduates, as well as graduate and professional students.
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion to include multicultural competence in working with students of color, students from all economic classes, first generation students, LGBTQ + students, and international students.
