Job Summary:
The Family Liaison is responsible for primarily identifying potential scholarship recipients who meet Once Upon a Time’s scholarship eligibility criteria and then, once at Starpoint, supporting these scholarship students (the “scholarship recipients”) and their families to maximize their success and engage scholarship recipients’ parents in the critical efforts around OUAT Scholars’ achievement.

Duties & Essential Job Functions:
1. Identifies potential scholarship recipients who meet scholarship eligibility criteria to fill all the scholarship slots.
2. Performs casework services to help scholarship recipients resolve personal, emotional, and social problems that interfere with their adjustment to school and their ability to enjoy the benefits of the educational process.
3. Serves as a catalyst for bringing together school resources with targeted community resources.
4. Acts as a liaison to resolve complex and sensitive scholarship recipient support cases, including trauma and emergencies.
5. Implements a multi-platform, data-driven, and outcomes-measured program to engage and inform families of all school and University opportunities; employs technology and social media to engage parents and build strong family-school relationships.
6. Helps to identify and address scholarship recipient parent and related school/community issues promptly.
7. Provides crisis support and counseling to scholarship recipients, their parents, and school personnel.
8. Coordinates and integrates school and community resources; refer school staff and scholarship recipient parents to community resources where appropriate.
9. Identifies and explores causes of scholarship recipients‘ challenges related to the home, school, and community, including making home visits to gather information about students.
10. Arranges for medical, psychiatric, and other tests and examinations when needed. Work with school personnel to indicate remedial measures.
11. Contributes to the planning and implementation of scholarship recipient parent involvement activities; develops and conducts parenting training and support groups.
12. Consults with scholarship parents regarding their scholarship recipients’ academic performance and needs.
13. Assists teachers and staff in contacting scholarship recipient parents, especially for academic support and concerns.
14. Assists with communication and interaction in all segments of the campus to provide increased opportunities for scholarship recipient parent involvement in the school.
15. Plans and develops scholarship recipient parent engagement-related workshops and work sessions for school personnel.
16. Assists and collaborates with scholarship recipient parent meetings throughout the year.
17. Compiles resources/materials related to issues in scholarship recipient parent engagement and develops.
18. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Required Education & Experience :
• Associate’s degree.
• 2 years of providing support services to students and parents.

Preferred Education & Experience:
• Bachelor’s degree.

Required Licensure/Certification/Specialized Training:
• Valid Texas Driver’s License.
• Must be insurable under the university motor vehicle requirements.

• None

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of presentation techniques for adults and children.
• Knowledge of child development stages.
• Knowledge of current education strategies.
• Knowledge of basic customer service techniques.
• Ability to clearly communicate in English.
• Knowledge of parent engagement strategies and methodologies.
• Knowledge of multicultural diversity issues in the work place.
• Ability to engage with families and parents in education and/or community issues to build support and participation.
• Ability to plan, coordinate, and present workshops and seminars to parents, educators, business, and community.

Physical Requirements (With or Without Accommodations):
• Visual acuity to read information from computer screens, forms and other printed materials and information.
• Able to speak (enunciate) clearly in conversation and general communication.
• Hearing ability for verbal communication/conversation/responses via telephone, telephone systems, and face-to-face interactions.
• Manual dexterity for typing, writing, standing and reaching, flexibility, body movement for bending, crouching, walking, kneeling and prolonged sitting.
• Lifting and moving objects and equipment up to 10 lbs.

Work Environment:
• Must have reliable vehicle that is insured in the state of Texas.
• Work is indoors and sedentary and is subject to schedule changes and/or variable work hours.
• This role is an on-campus, in-person position.
• There are no harmful environmental conditions present for this job.
• The noise level in this work environment is usually moderate.
