GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Centers for Early Childhood Education (CECE) Lead Preschool Teacher collaborates with the CECE teaching staff to ensure high quality education and care of preschool-age children to encourage self-expression, social-emotional growth, and learning in a play-based, hands-on, developmentally appropriate curriculum.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Supervises early childhood education pre-service teacher candidates and students in related majors, America Reads Tutors, and student interns

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director of the Centers for Early Childhood Education and Assistant Director of the Child Development Lab

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The Centers for Early Childhood Education Lead Preschool Teacher--DESE Licensure is responsible for, but not limited to, the following duties:

  • Plan, design, and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum in a literacy-rich learning environment that is integrated across the content areas to meet the needs of all children
  • Collaborate with co-teachers with curriculum planning and teaching in the Child Development Lab
  • Create and maintain a positive, enriched classroom environment to promote the learning and development of all children
  • Facilitate lessons and activities encouraging self-express and understanding of concepts through hands-on experiences and discovery
  • Promote social-emotional learning and growth in all developmental domains
  • Use selected assessment and screening tools to measure and illustrate children's development and growth and share findings with parents
  • Establish and maintain communication with families

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to attend to the physical requirements necessary to teach in a preschool classroom and playground on a daily basis



Job Requirements:

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) Teacher License in Early Childhood Education

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bilingual; candidates who are bilingual in English and Spanish or English and Portuguese are strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Master's degree in early childhood education, special education, or related field
  • Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care Preschool Lead Teacher Certification

ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • American Red Cross CPR and First Aid certificates
  • Undergo a background record check according to EEC regulations and policies

 



Additional Information:

This is a full-time, 12-month, exempt, benefits-eligible position within the Association of Professional Administrators (APA) bargaining unit at the rank of Staff Assistant in the Jeane M. Canelli Child Development Lab. Benefits include health, dental, retirement, generous tuition remission, and leave packages according to the APA bargaining unit.

The Child Development Lab is open from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. for the academic year. The regular work schedule for this position is Monday through Friday with availability to work a rotating schedule between 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and a few evenings for various family events during the school year. The salary range is $50,000 - $53,000 per year contingent upon grant funding being secured for three years through June 2024.

Framingham State University conducts background record checks according to the Massachusetts Early Education and Care requirements, which include Criminal Offender Record Information (CORI), Department of Children and Families (DCF) checks relative to prior criminal convictions and pending cases, Sex Offender Registration Information (SORI) checks relative to prior sexual offenses committed as an adult or juvenile, and finger print checks prior to an offer of employment for all positions. Framingham State University requires specific written authorization to conduct background record checks.
