The Department of Public Relations in the University of Florida's College of Journalism and Communications invites applications for two nine-month tenure track appointments. One position will be at the assistant professor level. The second one will be at the assistant or associate level. Applicants must already have or will have earned a doctorate in journalism or communication before starting work in August 2023. In the Department of Public Relations, faculty, students, staff, alumni, and professionals work together to continually improve our program. As a result, our graduates go on to be future leaders, change makers, scholars, writers, and critical thinkers who make us proud. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in public relations. The faculty member will teach and supervise graduate students. Candidates will mentor undergraduate and graduate students, engage in governance and other service activities, and demonstrate interest in contributing to online education, diversity, and the internationalization of the college and university. The candidate will also be expected to conduct scholarly or creative research.

Expected Salary:

Salary to commensurate with education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in communication or other relevant field by August 2023 and a record of original scholarly research. For those individuals applying to the associate professor position, applicants will need a record of original scholarly research, teaching, and service commensurate with appointment at the associate professor level.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to applicants with demonstrated expertise in one or a combination of the following areas: data analytics, corporate communication, social media, public interest/social change communication, artificial intelligence, and other areas relevant to public relations.

Other qualifications include evidence of excellence in teaching, a publication record and productive research program, and potential to secure grant funding.
