The Position

The professional selected to assume the CFO role will also be appointed by the Board of Trustees to the post of Treasurer. The incumbent will lead a capable staff of seven professionals, oversee all accounting and financial functions (including the annual audit), develop and monitor – in collaboration with Beacon’s Senior Staff – the budget for each fiscal year, and actively participate in all strategic planning of the College. The CFO position reports directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO)  and serves as a member of the senior leadership team. In the capacity of the College’s Chief Financial Officer, the incumbent is charged with the comprehensive management and oversight of the financial functions of the institution as established by the President with specific supervisory responsibility including all Finance and Accounting Functions and all College investments. The CFO will also be a primary College representative in matters associated with budget and finance with the Board of Trustees.

Among the requirements for the CFO position is a Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent, along with a minimum of five to seven years of senior level leadership in the area of budget and finance in higher education or comparable environment. A Master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or equivalent preferred. Ability to maintain confidentiality, employ excellent problem-solving and conflict resolution strategies, use responsible independent judgment, and work collaboratively with different constituencies in a diverse and dynamic college community. Experience managing a complex budget with multiple funding streams, integrating budget decisions with strategic planning, and ensuring institutional efficiency.
