Purpose of Position
The Associate Director plays a leadership role within the alumni engagement annual giving team. This role manages the Assistant Director of Alumni Outreach and Communications position, develops communications strategies and metrics to evaluate the impact of the work produced.

The Associate Director develops engaging content with consistent messaging and branding across multiple channels. This person will collaborate with Colleges and Units to convey the stories and mission of the University, our accomplishments of alumni, faculty, staff and students, develop solicitation and stewardship messaging, writes social media content, develops website content for Division and department sites and provide editorial direction to the team for the communications going out to our external audiences.

Duties include enhancing the visibility of the Alumni Association, increase the number of alumni and friends connected and giving to the university through online interaction, support alumni engagement and annual giving programs by promoting, attending and capturing major events in audio/video/photos. In addition, as part of the outreach efforts to engage our alumni, this person will coordinate the membership benefits and alumni owned directory programs and manage one Alumni Council. Primary Responsibilities
Develop communication strategies across multiple channels with consistent messaging and branding, including segmented messaging to engage over 75,000 alumni and friends of the University. Develop and manage a process for assessment, tracking and reporting of engagement to measure program participation and effectiveness.

Provide supervision and oversight to the Assistant Director, Alumni Outreach and Communications role.

Develops and edits content for website, electronic newsletters, social media, NKU Magazine and other publications. This may involve identifying, interviewing and writing alumni/donor stories, College/Unit specific stories, developing video clips, and promoting upcoming programs. Ensures editorial alignment with the University guidelines. Copy-edit for grammar, punctuation, style, tone and overall content pursuant to AP and institutional standards

Coordinates College and Unit communication needs that are being sent out to our alumni and friends. Works with Advancement Services for requesting data and segmentation for these communications as needed.

Manages the Alumni social media accounts (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram) to increase the number of alumni connected to the university through online interaction. Monitors trends in social media resulting in recommendations on how to engage alumni online. Manages the Social Media Ambassadors program.

Manage all aspects of one Alumni Council. This includes but is not limited to: identifying new Council members, train new volunteers, develop a succession plan for officers, initiate programs that connect alumni to the University, develop all communications with the Councils including agendas, minutes and rosters, budget oversight, strategic planning and program development.

Coordinates all aspects of the Membership benefits program and Alumni Business Directory.

Develop promotional materials and assist with planning of events associated with Alumni Engagement and Annual Giving including the Alumni Awards Dinner and Celebration, Homecoming, Founders Day, Giving Tuesday and other special events.

Supports the mission, goals and objectives of the Institutional Advancement Division. Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Non-profit or Higher Education and 4 years of related experience required

• Excellent written and verbal communication

• Highly creative and an exceptional story teller

• Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of integrated communication strategies (print, digital, social media).

• Knowledge of Web analytics to track success of social media, website and digital publications

• Ability to review and make recommendations to improve and streamline processes

• A team player with strong interpersonal skills and commitment and collaboration

• Ability to envision and write content for communication pieces

• Ability to organize and coordinate multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
