Assistant Professor of Literary Studies

The English Program at Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana invites applications for a tenure-eligible Assistant Professor of English with broad expertise in British literature to begin August 2023. The successful candidate will have completed a PhD in Literature or be ABD and have completed their dissertation by the time of appointment. We seek a collaborative colleague with demonstrated excellence in teaching both literature and composition. Advising undergraduate students is required. The successful candidate will support and carry out the mission of the college as well as demonstrate a commitment to developing and enhancing a culture of rigor, excellence, and achievement.

 

The position requires a load of 12 credits each semester (4/4), for a total of 24 credit hours per academic year. Courses include surveys of British literature, upper-level courses in British literature, Studies in Shakespeare, literary criticism, and the first-year composition sequence. We especially welcome candidates with the ability to teach courses in the following areas: literature and the environment, travel literature, world fiction, and/or history and grammar of English. Salary is commensurate with experience. The English Program offers majors and minors in Literary Studies, English Education, and Creative Writing.
