Position Summary:
Enterprise Systems Analysts (ESA) are responsible for: auditing, reporting, inventorying, ordering, installing and maintaining inventory systems infrastructure equipment. They will act as a customer service/support role by providing end user support. They will act as a part of a team, providing input on solutions, prioritizing requests and maintaining documentation.
ESA I positions provide server infrastructure, storage, cloud platform support, and related security for server systems to the university community. They will follow standard processes and procedures to resolve server system compliance, work on smaller projects with limited scope, following processes to documented standards, and participating in on-call rotation.

Duties may include:
  • Designing and using audits and reports to identify and resolve server problems
  • Engaging Application Administrators and customers to help troubleshoot application-related problems
  • Performing periodic ordering, audits, analysis and reporting for software licensing and support agreements
  • Evaluating, implementing and maintaining Systems Infrastructure management tools
  • Maintaining server system drivers and firmware
  • Coordinating software licensing, contracts, service purchasing and renewals
  • Creating, editing and updating documentation for various Systems Infrastructure processes
  • Peer reviewing new code, documentation and processes
  • Reviewing and suggesting improvements for source code and documentation for scripts and applications
  • Improving reliability and repeatability of processes by utilizing scripting, software tools and automation
  • Other duties as assigned



ESA II positions provide server infrastructure, storage, and cloud platform support for server systems to the university community. They build, deploy, secure, and maintain new server infrastructure on-premises and in the cloud. Identifying ways to automate processes to improve day-to-day administrative tasks and working with technical staff to resolve advanced technical issues.

Duties may include:
  • Creating, configuring and maintaining an enterprise server environment while maximizing security, reliability and performance
  • Performing server systems security analysis, monitoring, troubleshooting, consultations, design and implementation
  • Identifying and responding to security vulnerabilities, attacks and events
  • Researching, developing and presenting complex technical solutions to management and technical staff
  • Designing and using audits and reports to identify and resolve server problems
  • Performing periodic ordering, audits, analysis and reporting for software licensing and support agreements
  • Maintaining documentation to ensure accuracy by identifying inefficiencies
  • Reviewing and suggesting improvements for source code, documentation for scripts and applications
  • Improving reliability and repeatability of processes by utilizing scripting, software tools and automation
  • Other duties as assigned

ESA I $53,000.00 + DOE
ESA II $72,000.00 +DOE

Minimum Qualifications:
ESA I & II
  • High school diploma or equivalent
ESA I
  • One year experience maintaining technology infrastructure.
  • One year experience installing and configuring server operating systems.
  • One year experience providing support and customer service related to technology.


ESA II
  • One year of experience leading projects and designing advanced server systems.
  • Four years of progressive experience developing, installing, and maintaining physical and virtual enterprise systems across on-premises or cloud infrastructure.
  • Three years of experience providing support and customer service related to server systems.


Preferred Qualifications:
ESA I & II
  • Associate Degree or higher in a related field.
  • Experience building servers and automating servers whether on-premises or in the cloud.
  • Experience working cooperatively and communicating effectively with management, colleagues, and end-users in a customer.
  • Experience with supporting components of a data center environment including rack-mount hardware, structured cabling, UPS, power management, and cooling.
  • Demonstrated clear and concise technical writing skills appropriate for the workspace.
  • Experience in interacting with users and with vendors/partners to identify and resolve server hardware and application problems in a customer service driven environment.
  • Experience working in higher education.
  • Experience with the following products and services:
    • Red Hat Enterprise Linux & Microsoft Windows Server
    • Cloud Infrastructure as a service like Oracle Cloud Infrastructure
    • Scripting tools like PowerShell, Python, and Bash
    • Security standards, tools, and procedures
    • Certificate of Lifecycle Management
    • Network management and security
    • Data protection
    • Documentation management


ESA II
  • Experience with the following products and services:
    • Dell VxRail
    • VMware, vSphere, vCenter and vSAN.
    • Identity and access management.
    • Directory Services like Active Directory and Azure Active Directory.
    • Ansible and other tools which automate server operating system configuration.
    • Commvault backup software or similar.


Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:
ESA I & II
  • Ability to lift, carry, and/or otherwise move devices weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to bend, squat, crawl and navigate confined spaces.
