Assistant Professor, Psychology; Assistant/Associate Professor Clinical Psychology

The Departments of Psychology (undergraduate psychology) and Clinical Psychology (APA-accredited PhD program) at Seattle Pacific University invite applications for full-time faculty positions at the rank of assistant or associate professor starting September 1, 2023.

Qualifications and Responsibilities for the Positions:

Assistant Professor, Psychology (application deadline 1/27/2023): The ideal candidate for this position possesses a Ph.D. in Psychology, teaching experience at the undergraduate level, and a clearly articulated plan of research with some record of scholarly productivity. The successful candidate will be able to address congruence within the context of a university committed to Christian faith and learning. Candidates from underrepresented backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

Faculty duties include teaching, mentoring and advising undergraduate and possibly master’s students, service to the university as well as establishing an active program of research. Teaching responsibilities will include core undergraduate psychology classes (e.g., General Psychology, Research Methods) as well as undergraduate courses that best algin with the applicant’s area of expertise. Area of research and expertise is open, but preference will be given to applicants with a focus on Industrial-Organizational Psychology or Forensic Psychology.

Assistant or Associate Professor, Clinical Psychology (application review begins 2/15/2023): Candidates should hold a doctorate in Clinical Psychology from an APA-accredited program and have completed an APA-accredited pre-doctoral internship.  Postdoctoral or other advanced training in research and clinical specialty, a record of published research and evidence of, or potential for grant support of research are preferred. Area of expertise is open but candidates with experience in teaching, scholarship, and clinical application addressing health disparities experienced by marginalized communities is preferred. A psychology license in the State of Washington or license eligibility is also required. People from historically underrepresented groups are particularly encouraged to apply.

Faculty duties include graduate-level teaching in the clinical psychology Ph.D. curriculum, establishing and maintaining an active program of research, seeking intramural and/or extramural research funding, mentoring and supervising doctoral level students in research and clinical activities, and taking on administrative assignments and service within the department, school, and university. While we welcome applications from any area of specialization in professional psychology, we have immediate needs for expertise in clinical child and adolescent psychology, developmental, clinical neuropsychology, rehabilitation psychology, and integrated behavioral health.
