Assistant/Associate/Full Professor - Advanced Forestry Systems

The Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management (FERM) in the College of Forestry (COF) at Oregon State University (OSU) invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor or tenured at the Associate or Full Professor rank to advance forestry systems through innovative research and interdisciplinary cooperation.

 

We seek highly qualified applicants in the areas applicable to production forestry (e.g., automation, precision forestry/agriculture, data science, operations research, or human factors and ergonomics) to modernize traditional forestry systems while promoting OSU and COF values related to community, inclusivity, diversity, and equity.

The new faculty member will have many opportunities to shape, expand, and diversify the FERM Department’s reputation for excellence in research, instruction of undergraduate and graduate (masters and doctoral) students, as well as institutional and professional services. FERM is seeking a diversity of perspectives and welcomes applicants with a wide range of life and professional experiences.

The faculty member will provide intellectual leadership within the College of Forestry, regarding advanced forestry systems research, teaching, and outreach. The successful candidate will be expected to develop a program of distinction in research and scholarship within the broad area of advanced forestry systems, contribute to the College of Forestry’s interdisciplinary approach to learning and collaboration, and deliver quality undergraduate and graduate instruction.

 

  • 50% - Research/Scholarship
  • 30% - Instruction/Teaching
  • 10% - Outreach
  • 10% - Service
