Job Summary

The primary role of the Privacy Compliance Manager is to support the operational functions of the Privacy Program Services Department through the implementation, coordination, and monitoring of privacy controls and compliance obligations across the University with a focus on providing support and privacy subject matter expertise to business units engaged in research across the University. The Privacy Compliance Manager reports to the Director, Privacy Program Services.

Essential Functions
  • Facilitating the negotiation and approval of contracts and contractual provisions that involve the exchange of institutional data including (but not limited to) personally identifiable data, protected health information, student non-directory information, research data, aggregate data.
  • Leading privacy incident investigation, analysis, and response activities for privacy issues reported to the university. -Managing Privacy's vendor management and Privacy Impact Assessment processes.
  • Monitoring changes within the privacy landscape at a federal, state, and international level and provide insight into maintaining organizational privacy compliance.
  • Serve as a liaison and privacy subject matter expert to the IRB, faculty, ancillary University committees, and research staff.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by Executive Director, Privacy Program Services and/or Vice President, University Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer.
  • Support the daily management of Drexel's Privacy program through the creation and maintenance of privacy controls and protocols by working cross-functionally with various stakeholders across the University.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or Equivalent
  • 4+ years combined experience in human subject research, health care, privacy, compliance, or regulatory affairs positions, preferably in an academic or medical setting.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in teams and groups to plan, implement, and influence organizational change.

  • JD is preferred
