The West Virginia University Statler College of Engineering and Mineral Resources, Department of Mining and Industrial Extension is seeking applications for two positions of Mining Extension Agent - Health and Safety Instructor. These positions will be responsible for conducting Mining Extension training classes.

Specific duties and responsibilities:
• Instruct mining related/required classes (SCSR, Shelter, Mine Rescue, Fire Brigade, Annual Re-fresher, etc.)
• Build relationships with clients to understand client needs
• Support the development of new services based on demonstrated client needs
• Participate in meetings, conferences and events related to the needs of the department
• Travel is required to perform this job (Limited)

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or related field with five (5) years of underground experience; or Associate’s degree in a related field and seven (7) years of underground mining experience; or ten (10) years of underground mining experience with the following certifications: mine rescue instructor, mine foreman, EMT-M instructor, and CPR instructor.
• Underground coal miner certification
• IS/IU instructor certifications
• Must be a highly motivated self-starter who works well in multiple settings
• Excellent time management and organizational skills
• Be able to wear and instruct on proper use of all existing SCSR’s used in underground coal mines.
• Must possess strong presentation skills
• Ability to travel with a valid driver’s license
