The job opportunities UTemp has available vary daily depending on current projects and needed deliverables. Why work for UTemp?

UTemp Staffing provides the UW community with quality non-permanent, hourly-paid staff through exceptional service, and offers boundless opportunities to a diverse population of job seekers. UTemp may be the solution you are seeking, even if you have never considered temporary or contingent employment before. Working in a limited-term UW position is a fantastic way for you to explore the University environment, contribute your talents, and help us make a difference in our local communities and around the world!

The University offers a variety of position types ranging from entry-level to professional. These include, but are not limited to, administrative and clerical, managerial and fiscal, labor and warehouse, IT, technical, creative, and healthcare. Job assignments range from a day to several months, although usually don’t last longer than a year. Anytime you complete a UTemp assignment, or find yourself available for work, please check in with UTemp. Once an assignment is complete, you are welcome to be considered for additional opportunities, or perhaps take a break, which we are seeing more of in this gig-economy.

Working as a UTemp employee provides exposure to the University and its culture while you are waiting to hear back on other, longer-term positions to which you may have applied. It is an excellent way to get acquainted with one of Washington’s largest employers and learn more about what this institution has to offer, while keeping your skills sharp and adding experience to your resume. Committing to an opportunity for a limited duration at the UW can be very rewarding as you experience a diversity of opportunities and earn income and receive other UW perks and benefits.

Should my resume be one page? Our applicant tracking system does not have a page limitation. We recommend creating a comprehensive resume highlighting all of your education, skills, experience, and qualifications.

What happens after I apply? Your UTemp application will always remain as “Applied/In Review” in your UW Jobs profile. If our team identifies skills and experiences on your resume that match current job requests, we may contact you to find out more about your interests and availability. Upon successful completion of an intake interview, we conduct reference and background checks prior to moving forward with job placement.

How long until I hear from someone? Our team is continually recruiting from this job posting. You will be contacted if your skills and experience align with the job orders we are currently working on. Due to the high number of applications we receive, we may not be able to contact every applicant. Please do reach out to utemp@uw.edu if you have not heard back within two weeks after applying.

How will I be contacted? UTemp may contact you by phone or email. Please keep your contact information current, both in your candidate profile and within your resume text, to avoid missed opportunities. You can edit your contact information on the “Edit My Profile” tab of your UW Jobs profile.

Where do available UTemp jobs get posted? Due to the immediate need of job requests that we receive from departments, UTemp does not post specific positions on the UW job site. Specific jobs that are posted on the UW Jobs website are not filled by UTemp. To be considered for those, please apply directly. If you are brought into our candidate pool, you will be contacted about jobs that match your skills and experience.

Can an assignment become a permanent position? The UW does not have direct “temp-to-hire” opportunities. To be hired into a permanent, salaried position, you must apply directly for any vacancy for which you believe you are qualified, and proceed through the open competitive process for that position. While on a UTemp assignment, you are considered an employee of the UW and eligible to apply for positions open to UW employees only.

How long does a job assignment last? There is no guarantee of length of employment and end dates are subject to change. Job assignments range from a day to several months, but do not normally exceeding a year. Anytime you complete an assignment, or find yourself available for work, please check in with us so we may see if we may find a new opportunity for you. Our positions are considered at-will. This means they can end, or be extended, at any time at your consent and/or that of the department.

Whom should I contact with questions? You may email our team at utemp@uw.edu.
