Position Description
The Department of Choral Studies, Music Education and Sacred Music at Rider University seeks an adjunct instructor(s) in Music Education, to teach the following classes for the Fall Semester beginning Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
ME 592 Creativity & Music Technology 2 Credits
Creativity and Technology in the Music Classroom is designed to prepare students to foster musical creativity using a variety of approaches and tools. In particular, students will use equipment such as digital audio workstations, MIDI controllers, microphones, and SmartBoards to facilitate rich and engaging creative experiences. Students will explore ways to structure learning experiences in response to the needs and interests of students, and will examine current thinking and trends related to the uses of creativity and technology in the music classroom.
Prerequisite (s): Junior status or permission of instructor.
Responsibilities:
This adjunct position will supervise Music Education students that are student teaching during the Fall and Spring semesters.

ME 592 Creativity & Music Technology 2 Credits

Students will explore ways to structure learning experiences in response to the needs and interests of students, and will examine current thinking and trends related to the uses of creativity and technology in the music classroom.
Prerequisite (s): Junior status or permission of instructor.
Responsibilities:
- Create a syllabus that addresses the learning goals for ME 592.
- Teach students how to effectively use and incorporate technological equipment in their lesson planning. (Specifically: digital audio workstations, MIDI controllers, microphones, smartboards, Garageband, etc.)
- Examine current thinking and trends related to the uses of creativity and technology in the music classroom.
This adjunct position will supervise Music Education students that are student teaching during the Fall and Spring semesters.
Responsibilities:
- Complete formal observations of the Student Teacher Candidate
- Analyze and critique immediately after each observation, identifying specific strengths and refinements, utilizing professional oral and written expression
- Be knowledgeable about the assessment instrument and accurate evaluation procedures, allowing ample time for observation and assessment
- Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with the cooperating school and/or district
- Serve as a resource for the Student Teacher and maintain weekly communication throughout the semester.
- Maintain effective communication with the Cooperating Teacher, Music Education Faculty, and Student Teacher Placement Office.
- Encourage responsibility and creativity in the student teaching experience
- Keep accurate records on the Student Teacher Candidate
ME 592 Creativity & Music Technology Position Requirements:
- 3+ years of demonstrated successful music teaching experience in a public school or private school setting.
- BM Music Education; MM Music Education or Master of Music
- Demonstrated extensive experience incorporating technology in the classroom
- Demonstrated experience with music software programs (i.e., Finale; Sibelius); digital audio workstations; smartboards; GarageBand
- Highly organized
- Demonstrated ability to build and maintain working partnerships
- 5+ years of demonstrated successful music teaching experience in a public school or private school setting.
- BM Music Education; MM Music Education or Master of Music
- Demonstrated Choral emphasis for Middle and High School
- General Music Emphasis for Elementary
