Job Summary
Under the direction of the Executive Pastry Chef, this position is responsible for all aspects of bakery production including Cafe, Catering and Grab & Go needs. The incumbent will open the bakery daily and oversee a student staff of 3-5 people.

This position is full-time, nine (9) month seasonal appointment, as concurrent with the academic year. This seasonal appointment will have the following unpaid work breaks (approximate dates):
Winterim Break Mid December to Mid January
Summer Break Mid May to Mid August

The incumbent is expected to return back to work and does not have to reapply for the position again each time there is a break.

Hours of position are Tuesday-Saturday 6:00 am-2:30 pm. This position may require ability to work occasional night and weekend hours for special catering events.

The University of Wisconsin (UW) System offers a comprehensive benefits package to meet the diverse needs of our community. The University contributes towards the cost of several benefit plans. Employees also receive a vacation package starting at 104 hours during first year, sick leave (with no expiration), personal holiday (36hrs each year), and paid legal holidays.

The minimum starting hourly rate is $17/hour; the final hourly rate is dependent upon the finalist's experience, education, qualifications and equity within the department.


Minimum Qualifications
• Professional baking experience

Preferred Qualifications
• Evidence of baking experience in a large volume establishment
• Knowledge of specialty baking skills (e.g. fine chocolates, cake decorating, pulled sugars)
• Experience in training staff
• Experience in supervisory and/or lead work functions in a food service or customer service environment
• Experience in new recipe development
• Associate’s Degree or higher in Hospitality, Culinary Arts, Baking or related field
• ServSafe Food Handler or ServSafe Manager Certification or equivalent
