Primary Purpose of Position:
The primary purpose of this position is to support campus needs for data analytics, business intelligence, and related metrics to inform decision-making, planning, and continuous improvement across the University. The position also provides data warehouse management for the scope of data within purview of Research, Evaluation, and Planning department.

This employee serves as the primary manager, developer, analyzer and coordinator in the construction, maintenance and delivery of data from Research, Evaluation and Planning's (REP) data warehouse and analytic tools. This employee creates a full range of complex analytical and programming activities; analyzes complex data; determines the priorities of warehousing tasks and communicates priorities to REP staff; runs and debugs SAS programs; creates data sets and documentation, creates and maintains SAS data libraries; certifies the validity and reliability of data uploaded, stored and reported in and from the data warehouse; ensures data processes and tools are in place to support data warehouse, analytic tools and the integrity of data; maintains, establishes, documents and implements the appropriate security for the data warehouse; cleans, migrates, synchronizes, and replicates data in a data warehouse; develops and maintains user's data definitions and security settings; creates and oversees all data visualization activities; maintains and updates analytics on REP's servers; creates a data flow chart to address data integration processes; uses SAS, SPSS, R, or Stata for data analysis and/or other statistical software packages; works with array of business intelligence applications.

Minimum Education/Experience:
Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of directly applicable experience; Master’s degree and 1-2 years experience preferred.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Four or more years of progressively more responsible experience
  • Thorough understanding of data warehousing concepts/frameworks
  • Proven ability to analyze and manage large complex data sets
  • Ability to utilize a diversity of software packages, applications and automated systems for collecting and managing data
  • Experience with data visualization (Tableau, SAS Visual Analytics) and/or other visual analytics tools and creating dashboards
  • Excellent SAS programming and analysis skills
  • Experience working with student data within a higher education setting
  • Experience with Power Query, Power Pivot, SQL, Power BI a plus
  • Experience with enterprise data management systems such as Banner/People Soft and reporting tools, such as, Argos and/or Webfocus
  • Experience with statistical software packages such as SPSS, SAS, and/or R
  • Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; ability to work and contribute in a team working environment
