Position Details
The Department of Criminal Justice at Texas Christian University
invites applications for a tenure track assistant professor
position. The department seeks applicants with research and
teaching specializations focused on race, ethnicity, class, and
social justice. Candidates should be able to teach Multiculturalism
in the Criminal Justice System and develop new courses within their
specialized areas. This position begins Fall 2022, and is part of a
multi-position Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) cluster hire
by TCU's AddRan College of Liberal Arts on race, ethnicity, and
social justice. The cluster hire also involves faculty searches in
History, Sociology, Political Science, and Religion. AddRan desires
to build a cohort of teacher-scholars across disciplines and areas
of specialization interested in teaching and conducting research on
race, racism, ethnicity, and social justice. As part of the DEI
cluster hire, AddRan College will provide the cohort with
opportunities and resources to participate in mentoring and
peer-support circles, research and writing workshops, and other
ongoing opportunities for professional development.
Preference will be given to candidates who will have completed a
Ph.D.in Criminology and/or Criminal Justice and have demonstrated
the capacity for excellence in the classroom and success as a
teacher-scholar. The position carries a 3/2 teaching load and
includes a competitive salary and benefits.
Department Details
The TCU Department of Criminal Justice has 9 full-time faculty
members, nearly 300 undergraduate majors, and about 150 minors. The
Department also houses an online master’s degree and a law
enforcement leadership certificate program (LEAD) in which
full-time faculty may be invited to teach as an overload. The
Department of Criminal Justice at TCU is a growing, active network
of faculty, students, and community partners with strong research
and service ties to the Fort Worth-Dallas metroplex.
School/College Description
Named for TCU’s founders, Addison and Randolph Clark, the AddRan
College of Liberal Arts is home to the core academic disciplines of
the humanities and social sciences. The College includes
approximately 155 full-time faculty members, 11 departments
(Criminal Justice, Economics, English, Geography, History, Modern
Language Studies, Philosophy, Political Science, Religion,
Sociology & Anthropology, and Spanish and Hispanic Studies),
and two units of Reserve Officers’ Training Corps (Army and Air
Force). AddRan College departments confer 15 Bachelor of Arts and
six Bachelor of Science degrees, a Bachelor of General Studies, an
online master’s degree in Criminal Justice, a Master of Liberal
Arts degree, and master’s and Ph.D. degrees in History, English,
and Rhetoric and Composition.
