We have an immediate opening for an Associate Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences to join us in our commitment to student success!

The Academic Associate Dean provides leadership to personnel and management of procedures and processes in assigned areas. The Associate Dean will coordinate activities and work to resolve faculty and student issues in assigned areas and will collaborate with personnel from across the college and community in support of the College mission. The Associate Dean provides administrative oversight to assigned faculty and staff, and is responsible for promoting and sustaining a collegial, respectful, and high-performing work environment for all employees.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities
  • Supervise and evaluate full-time and adjunct faculty as assigned; and assigned staff.
  • Collaborate with other administrators in development of an efficient class schedule that meets student needs.
  • Assist with course content and curriculum in keeping catalog information current, complete, and accurate.
  • Assist with planning and coordination of faculty events.
  • Hold meetings with assigned faculty on a regularly scheduled basis.
  • Collaborate on faculty and staff development initiatives.
  • Coordinate and assist in the recruitment and selection of adjunct faculty and coordinate mentoring of new adjunct and full-time faculty.
  • Responsible for student advising functions to fulfill department duties, as directed by the Dean of Arts & Letters.
  • Ensure that student learning outcomes assessment plans are being followed with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Serve on College committees as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Behavioral Science or related field.
  • Three (3) years of experien ce in a college environment that includes a minimum of three (3) years of college-l evel teaching experience and a minimum of (1) year of leadership experience in a post-secondary setting.

  • Demonstrated quantitative, organ iza tional, and technical skills adequate to help des i gn, monitor, and i nterpret ass es sm e nt results .
  • Fam i liarity with student l earning outcomes assessment and how this process relates to program and i n s titution accreditati on .
  • Promote a common purpose consistent with stated College goals and demonstrate a commitment to students and the learning environment.
  • Possess the knowledge of general written standards and procedures utilized, and have the ability to read, interpret, and follow procedural and policy manual related to the job tasks
  • Demonstrate the ability to respond to supervision, guidance and direction in a positive, receptive manner and in accordance with stated policies.
  • Provide quality customer service by creating a welcoming and supportive environment.
  • Present a professional image in word, action and attire.
  • Demonstrate professionalism in dealing with a diverse population while understanding and respecting each other’s view of the world, personalities and working styles
  • Conduct oneself in a manner consistent with the College’s standards of ethical conduct.
