Program Manager
About the Opportunity
The Program Manager is a key student facing representative in the Of f ice of Global Services (OGS). They will play an essential role in developing and implementing programs and support initiatives that ensure international students' successful arrival, transition, and continued acculturation. Through a culturally -informed lens, and in service of Northeastern's values around global citizenship, this person will plan and execute events, respond to student needs, and collaborate with partners across campus to ensure that international students' needs are widely represented and met. Under the supervision of an Associate Director, and in conjunction with various departments on campus, the Program Manager will develop programs that outreach to appropriate international constituencies and help achieve institutional goals. Some events will be sponsored by OGS while others will require developmental advising work with international student groups. They will serve as an advisor to various student groups whose mission is to recognize and celebrate cultures. They will collaborate with advisors at OGS regional campuses to offer inclusive services and events to all international students. They will also assist in the delivery of academic support initiatives through OGS. The Program Manager will serve as a key advisor within the Academic Skills Advising program, working closely with of f ices across campus to make referrals when necessary. Through holistic advising, this person will connect with students, understand needs, and work with students to utilize the full range of resources available at Northeastern and make individual academic success plans. The Program Manager will lead the delivery of new and existing academic support related initiatives, including but not limited to co-op professional development, pre-arrival programs, and workshops on crucial academic skills. Creative, engaging, relevant, and timely communication with students will also be a part of this role. They will create and/ or manage the creation of educational and marketing material for OGS—printed and digital. This includes virtual resources such as webinars, videos, and interactive training experiences.
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, International Affairs, College Student Personnel or similar degree required. Masters preferred. 3 - 5 years' experience working in international student support programs, student activities, student affairs or related field. Knowledge of international student acculturation and familiarity with immigration and compliance issues preferred. Intercultural experiences such as studying or working outside the U.S. highly preferred.
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse student population on a fast -paced campus a must. An existing knowledge of Northeastern and its unique educational program is desired.
Must be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident in order to serve as DSO/ARO.
