The position is responsible for undergraduate courses in the Zoo, Exotic, and Companion Animal focus area of the Animal Science major. Through teaching, research, and service, the Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences strives to strengthen the ability of our students, faculty, and stakeholders to meet current and future local, national, and global challenges and opportunities in the field of Animal Science. The approximately 430 undergraduate Animal Science majors and minors may choose to focus on zoo, exotic, and companion animals, equine science, dairy science, or pre-veterinary/pre-professional studies. The Department is well regarded for its experiential learning courses on campus (such as UVM CREAM and EQUUS), travel courses, and internship and research opportunities. Faculty members are committed to advancing the values of Our Common Ground (i.e., openness, respect, responsibility, integrity, innovation, and justice) through their teaching and service. We are specifically seeking a colleague who will demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching and advising and collaborate with other faculty to that end. Furthermore, we seek a colleague who shares our commitment to mentoring and supporting students and staff from diverse backgrounds and to developing more inclusive and equitable academic practices.

QUALIFICATIONS: The Department of Animal and Veterinary Sciences seeks a highly motivated professional with demonstrated proficiency in companion animal, zoo, and/or exotic animal health, management, and/or behavior. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to the ideals of accessibility, inclusiveness, and academic excellence as reflected in the tenets of Our Common Ground. The University is especially interested in candidates who can contribute to the diversity and excellence of the institution.
