The Division of Bioethics and Palliative Care, Department of Pediatrics, at the University of Washington is recruiting a part time (0.6 FTE) or full time (1.0 FTE) Assistant/Associate or Full Professor, without tenure by reason of funding, (commensurate with experience and qualifications) on the clinician-scholar track.

Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Associate and Full Professors  hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off.

Responsibilities for the full time position will include providing in-patient and outpatient palliative clinical services as well as clinical bioethics consultation services. This position will demonstrate excellence in and enthusiasm for providing high quality palliative care and clinical ethics consultation, as well as commitment to health equity. Responsibilities for the part time position will include providing in-patient and outpatient palliative clinical services.

All University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research and service.  Anticipated start date is Winter 2023.

The base salary range for this position (at 1.0 FTE) will be: Assistant Professors MD $12,237 - $18,356 per month ($146,854 - $220,282 annually), Associate Professors MD $14,240 - $21,360 per month ($170,884 - $256,326 annually), Professors MD $18,971 - $28,457 per month ($227,662 - $341,494 annually) commensurate with experience and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.

This range is inclusive of base salary provided through the Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan, in addition to base salary provided by the University. Please note that only compensation provided by the University is included in University benefit determinations and calculations. Compensation provided by Children’s University Medical Group (CUMG) practice plan may provide eligibility for separate benefits offered by that organization.

Qualifications

Applicants must have an MD (or foreign equivalent) and be board certified or eligible in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Applicants interested in the full-time position should also have at least two years of training in bioethics.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
