Job Duties:
The Associate Registrar reports to the Registrar and provides support in the delivery of all phases of Student Records. The Associate Registrar must have progressive experience in post-secondary education and must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing with a diverse group of constituents.

  • Develop and maintain student records in compliance with Athens State University policy and appropriate state and oversight agency requirements.
  • Determine priorities and set strategic goals to ensure the office is providing relevant services, keeping current with technological demands, providing appropriate access to data, and leading key strategic initiatives.
  • Supports the Registrar with end of term and start of term processing and related business processes.
  • Provide oversight of graduation applications and preparation for graduation ceremonies.
  • Manage the processing of re-admission, change of grade, academic bankruptcy, and course forgiveness forms.
  • Manage the submission of required National Student Clearinghouse reporting.
  • Assists the Registrar with testing and promoting latest technological updates to all student operating systems, such as Banner and Degree Works.
  • Crosstrain within the Registrar's Office to provide expert support to all essential job functions of staff members.
  • Meet annual goals established by the Registrar.
  • Maintain the policy and procedures manual for Student Records.
  • Distribute materials as appropriate for Student Records services.
  • Ensure FERPA compliance with all interactions regarding Student Records.
  • Maintain up to date technological skills and use efficiently in performance of job functions.
  • Comply with all policies of the University.
  • Demonstrates flexibility and adaptability to changing work scope and tasks based on need.
  • Actively works towards building cooperative and collaborative relationships with peers
  • and internal faculty and staff.
  • Maintains “open door” to internal and external customers.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvements to work practices and offers viable solutions for implementation.
  • Proactively engages in problem solving related to tasks in this position with internal and external people.
  • Routinely practices self-monitoring by assessing self to make improvements or take corrective action to improve performance.
  • Completes other tasks as assigned


Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor of Science degree required, Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in higher education records, registration, or related work within a higher education environment required.
  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, both orally and in writing with a diverse group of constituents.
  • Ability to acquire new skills and develop effective solutions independently to meet new challenges.

  • Minimum of one year of supervisory experience.
