Job Description:

The Senior Advancement Officer - Major Gift Officer solicits alumni and other individuals for significant gifts to advance SUNY Oneonta's mission and strategic planning in support of students, faculty, staff and institutional programs. This position reports to the Associate Vice President for College Advancement.

The Division of College Advancement works to raise charitable gifts and grants for the College, strengthen alumni traditions and networks, and build sustained, long-term relationships that promote the reputation and success of the College. Duties include but not limited to: identify and build relationships that lead to soliciting and stewarding current and future donors with the goals to secure significant gifts of $25,000 to $1 million and above for the College at Oneonta Foundation. This is in support of our fundraising campaigns such as our current campaign, Grow.Thrive.Live The Future of SUNY Oneonta. Works with volunteers, College Advancement staff, and other college teammates; starts and builds relationships with potential donors; travels regionally and nationally to meet with donors and prospective donors. The successful candidate will be a strong advocate for SUNY Oneonta and its mission; will display creativity, initiative and excellent communication skills; and works collaboratively as a member of the College Advancement team.

Requirements:

Required qualifications : bachelor's degree at the time of hire; excellent written communication and verbal presentation skills; demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team; ability to travel regionally and nationally; availability to work some evenings and weekends as needed; valid driver's license.

Preferred: minimum 5 years' experience in fundraising/advancement, financial planning, or related field; experience securing major gifts of $25,000 and above; excellent organization skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite; prior of use of Blackbaud Raiser's Edge or similar constituent relationship management (CRM) product; professional experience working in a higher education environment; and experience working with and serving diverse populations.
