Departments of Traditional Undergraduate Psychology and Professional Studies Psychology
Position Description:
The Psychology Department seeks applications for adjunct professors in the following courses:
1. Introduction to Psychology
2. Social Psychology
3. Cognitive Psychology
Vanguard seeks professionals of Christian faith who are committed to integration of faith and learning in their respective fields. The applicants must have demonstrated teaching ability and a commitment to working with and encouraging diversity.
Vanguard Psychology has openings for both in-person and online courses, including both daytime and evening schedules. Courses are offered in our Traditional Undergraduate Program (mostly daytime courses serving residential students and commuters) and in the Professional Studies Program (flexible modalities serving working students, those with family care responsibilities, and students residing outside the Orange County area).
Essential Functions:
- Teach one of the above-mentioned psychology courses.
- Share knowledge including theory, practical skills, methods and techniques in related field.
- Foster a respectful and engaging classroom environment.
- Challenge thinking, foster debate and develop the ability of students to engage in critical discourse and thinking regarding psychology.
- Collaborate with department faculty in curriculum implementation, student support, and continuous program improvement.
- Identify risks to the organization within the department and discuss risk reduction options with immediate supervisor.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Master's degree (MS or MA) or higher in psychology or a related field.
- Demonstrated teaching ability.
- A vibrant Christian faith and commitment to an integration of faith and learning.
The following salary range reflects compensation paid for a 3-unit course (144 total hours), and varies based on the faculty member's highest earned degree. Total compensation is based on the number of courses taught and corresponding units for each course.
$3,024 to $3,600
