Position Overview

A Lecturer provides a quality learning experience for students and performs instruction-related duties in accordance with the mission, policies, and procedures of the College. In addition to teaching, departmental responsibilities are expected.

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook.

Department-Specific Essential Job Functions

The Department of History and Geography invites applications for a full-time Lecturer in History and Geography. The selected candidate will teach five courses per semester (15 credit hours) in the undergraduate curriculum. May be asked to teach in a variety of delivery formats (online, hybrid, face-to-face). Lecturers participate in regular departmental work at chair's discretion. Qualifications/Experience Required

Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned Master’s degree or Ph.D. in history, geography, or related field by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution is required. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills, along with a commitment to transformative education.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred

Preference will be given to candidates with at least two years of college-level teaching experience.
