College/Department Overview:

The College of Education and Professional Studies currently has 100 full-time and over 100 part-time faculty organized in seven departments. The college offers 21 undergraduate majors and 29 graduate majors. All teacher education programs are CAEP accredited. Other programs are recognized at the state and national levels with accreditations by the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), the American Dietetic Association (ADA), the American Speech-Language Hearing Association (ASHA), the Masters in Psychology and Counseling Accreditation Council (MPCAC), the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP), the National Council on Family Relations (NCFR), and the Oklahoma Educational Quality and Accountability Commission (OEQA). UCO's College of Education and Professional Studies has an enrollment of nearly 3400 students, about one-fourth of whom are graduate students. Position Overview:

Teaches, advises and mentors students, evaluates student performance, and maintains department and student records in accordance with university policies. Adheres to the educational philosophy of the university. Works in a collaborative manner with colleagues and professional peers. Participates in university meetings that relate specifically to faculty. Serves on department, college, and university committees as requested. Prepares departmental reports as requested. Engages in teaching, service, and scholarly and/or creative activities as defined by the tenure and promotion policy in the UCO Employee and Faculty Handbook. This position is a full-time, tenure-track position and will begin August 2023. Preferred application date is February 1st, 2023.

Department Specific Essential Job Functions:

All areas of psychology will be considered but the department is particularly interested in candidates with training and research in an experimental field of psychology. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate and graduate (Master's level) psychology courses in specialty areas and other service courses such as Introductory Psychology, Research Design, and Statistics as needed. Instruction in courses may require a variety of formats (face-to-face, hybrid, and online) and teaching day/evening courses. Additional responsibilities include involving students in research, serving on committees, and advisement. UCO is a metropolitan university with a focus on undergraduate education and scholarship.

Qualifications/Experience Required:

Teaching, research, departmental/school and university service is expected. An earned doctorate degree awarded by a regionally accredited or internationally recognized institution in the field specified in the position announcement (exceptions require Academic Affairs approval).
NOTE: ABDs may apply, but if the doctorate is not obtained and submitted by the time of employment, the position rank will change to TT-Instructor.

Qualifications/Experience Preferred:

Teaching experience in higher education and a sustainable research program. Salary is commensurate with credentials and experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

Areas of training and research may include (but is not limited to) Social, Developmental, and Applied Psychology (Forensic, Human Factors, Industrial/Organizational). Ability to mentor or advise student thesis research in topic areas. Reports to the Chair of the Department and the Dean of the College.
