Job Summary:
The purpose of this position is to support the NIC Grants Development function in the acquisition of grant funds from external, public, and private agencies in support of the College’s strategic priorities to advance ongoing and new initiatives. This position also supports post-award grant administration activities.

Job Duties:


This list includes, but is not limited to the following:

  • Under the direction of the NIC Grants Development Manager, supports the college’s internal process for grant development, submission, and acceptance of grant awards including identification of opportunities, internal and external research, grant writing and editing, reporting and communications.
  • Assists with grant research to identify appropriate external grant opportunities and potential funding sources in support of the college’s grant acquisition strategy, strategic goals, and emerging needs and interprets the College’s commitment related to acceptance of external funds.
  • Assists with implementation and maintenance of records and computer databases.
  • Assists the Development Department in identifying, securing, and administering grants from the private sector.
  • Responds to internal inquiries for grant opportunity information and assist with the application process as appropriate.
  • Develops, implements and monitors the Grants Office external and internal websites.
  • Creates and maintains grants development and management training materials for the college.
  • Coordinates and implements training opportunities for employees on college grants development and grants management efforts.
  • Keeps informed on the best practices in the grants management field and recommends improvements to the grants management process.
  • Provides administrative and organizational support for the grants office.
  • Assists with special projects as directed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a positive, helpful, constructive attitude and work relationship with supervisor, college staff, students, and the community.

Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience : Associate’s degree or Applied Associate’s degree from a two-year college or professional/technical school or program and a minimum of three years full-time related experience and/or training is required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Exceptional interpersonal skills
• Excellent writing and editing skills required.
• Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with college personnel, external stakeholders, state and federal agencies, and private organizations.
• Knowledge of the policies, procedures, and regulations which govern the retention and disposition of external funding and documentation.
• Skill in planning and organizing, meeting critical due dates.
• Knowledge of grant fundraising principles and procedures.
• Knowledge of techniques used for online database research.
• Ability to combine administrative support with tasks requiring more flexibility and creativity.
• Proficiency using personal computer, including Microsoft Windows and Office applications
• Ability to operate standard office equipment including phone, and copier
Ability to work some evenings and weekends as required to meet deadlines.
