Job Details

Union College Department of Chemistry invites applications for a two-year visiting position at the Assistant Professor level beginning in Fall 2023. Successful candidates will have a Ph.D. in analytical chemistry and should have the potential for excellence in undergraduate teaching and research. The College has an exceptional suite of advanced instrumentation and the expectation is that the hire will involve undergraduates to further their research endeavors. Teaching responsibilities will be primarily in introductory and analytical chemistry courses and labs. We strongly encourage applications from members of groups traditionally underrepresented in the field. Increasing diversity on campus is a key priority for Union, one that is integral to our mission of preparing students for a globally interconnected world. Our goal is to increase diversity and support a diverse environment in which people from varied backgrounds can thrive. Candidates should share how they can further Union’s diversity goals in their cover letter.

Please find the ad for this position at http://jobs.union.edu, and follow the submission instructions therein. Applications should include a CV, a statement of the applicant’s experience and interests in teaching, and an outline of research interests. The teaching statement should reflect on teaching experience, as well as how the applicant can both contribute to diverse educational experiences and offerings and engage with students with diverse skills or backgrounds. The research statement should outline research plans and ways to involve undergraduate students. In addition, we require both graduate and undergraduate transcripts and the names and contact information for three references. An email will be sent automatically to the references requesting that they upload their letter of recommendation to our system. The application deadline is March 1st, but review of completed applications will begin immediately and continue until the position is filled.
