Description
The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth invites applicants for a Pre-doctoral Research Assistant position who will assist with research at the forefront of Financial Economics, investigating themes such as Firm Dynamics and Household Finance, for example. The position begins in the Summer of 2023. Applicants must have recently finished an undergraduate degree or be near completion of one. The appointment will initially be for a one-year term but can be renewable for one additional year. Applications will be considered (and decisions made) on a rolling basis. No applications will be considered after March 31st, 2023.
We hope this will be an excellent opportunity to acquire additional skills in data analysis, experimental design, theory testing, and quantitative methods. There will be opportunities for co-authored work, and we will help prepare the researcher apply to Ph.D. programs in Finance. The Researcher Assistant will receive a salary and benefits.
Qualifications
The Research Assistant will analyze data using statistical packages such as Stata and R. The researcher will work closely with the Finance faculty at Tuck, using collaborative tools to manage projects and tasks. Additionally, the researcher will be an integral part of the research process, performing literature reviews, drafting research reports, and being generally involved in the publication process. The Research Assistant will interact closely with the professors and their many collaborators. The Research Assistant will also participate in broader activities at Tuck and Dartmouth College, such as attending seminars and conferences hosted on campus.
Dartmouth is highly committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive population of students, faculty, and staff. We are especially interested in applicants who can work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from all backgrounds, including but not limited to racial and ethnic minorities, women, individuals who identify with LGBTQ communities, individuals with disabilities, individuals from lower income backgrounds, and/or first-generation college graduates.
Application Instructions
To apply, please submit a (1) cover letter, (2) C.V., (3) undergraduate transcripts including GPA, (4) a list of all Economics, Mathematics, Statistics and Computer Science classes you have taken or currently taking, (5) a statement with your experience with statistical and numerical software such as Stata, R and Phyton, and (6) two references (no action is required from them initially).
