A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is seeking Adjunct Microbiologist Faculty on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The Adjunct Microbiologist Faculty position will work collaboratively with the ATSU-SOMA team to develop, implement, and refine the curriculum and will be involved in the delivery of campus clinical education to medical students. This is an hourly position with an expected contribution averaging approximately 100 hours per year, depending on number of activities applied.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Curriculum delivery in the classroom as opportunity arises
- Case-based Inquiry (CBIQ) Group case building
- Write questions for formative and summative examination purposes
- Provide general support to students and faculty for curriculum content related to field of expertise
- Participate in faculty development and training related to the assigned tasks
- Other duties as assigned by Chair or Dean of Clinical Education, in keeping with the purpose of the school
- The successful applicant will have demonstrated success promoting a culturally rich environment that values and appreciates diversity
- The applicant should have a common understanding of bias, what it means to be culturally proficient, and demonstrated success at mitigating differences
- Familiarity with the principles and practice of osteopathic medicine is a plus
Three to five years of:
- Broad knowledge and experience in medical education at the UME and/or GME level
- Curriculum delivery knowledge and experience with a willingness to adapt to innovative classroom instruction
- Microbiology pertaining to all aspects of bacteria, viruses and fungi
- College plus postgraduate studies - PhD required
- Ability to work collaboratively with others
- Ability to write medical board-style questions
